THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: 4,31,448 out of 50 lakh people in Kerala state have been diagnosed with diabetes. The health department had tested people above the age of 30 years as part of the prevention of lifestyle diseases. Many people became severely diabetics because they did not get diagnosed on time despite seeing the symptoms.

Experts point out that lifestyle and a fatty diet are the reasons for diabetes. The ICMR study had pointed out that 18% of the population in the state of Kerala would be pre-diabetes condition patients. It came true now. Earlier, diabetes was seen in people over the age of 50. Diabetes has now affected people over 30 years of age also. Diabetes can occur after the age of 10 years. Type 2 diabetes, which is seen in adults, affects children also now. Earlier, children had type 1 diabetes which occurred due to a genetic disorder.

53% of pregnant women

53% of pregnant women in the state are in the grip of diabetes. This is the finding of a survey of pregnant women conducted in collaboration with the ICMR. This is because of lifestyle. Although diabetes can be hereditary, it can be changed through lifestyle. The new generation is not trying to do that. The mother may have a miscarriage, premature delivery, blood pressure, and urinary tract diseases. Babies may have heart trouble, brain problems, and deformities. In 70 per cent of people with gestational diabetes, glucose can be controlled by adjusting their diet.

Change your lifestyle and save yourself!

  • Need a proper diet from childhood
  • Control high-fat new-gen diet.
  • Fruits and vegetables should be made the staple food.
  • Walking and cycling should be made a routine

"Reducing the intake of sugar for 1000 days from pregnancy can reduce diabetes in 35% of children. This is also good for the mother. This is especially relevant in the context of an increase in diabetes among pregnant women and adolescents in Kerala.
