MUMBAI: BJP national general secretary has been caught with unaccounted cash worth Rs 5 crore. The apprehended has been identified as Vinod Tawde, a leader from Maharashtra. He was caught by Bahujan Vikas Aghadi activists from a hotel in Mumbai's Virar. The senior BJP leader was caught with the money just hours before the Maharashtra assembly elections.

Vinod Tawda was detained by Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) activists for allegedly coming to distribute money at the hotel. Bahujan Vikas Aghadi activists said they have also found the names and details of the people who were supposed to receive the money from Vinod. Bahujan Vikas Aghadi activists alleged that the BJP national general secretary had come in person with the money to influence the voters. Clashes broke out in the area after the BJP leader was detained.

According to BVA activists, Tawde continued in Virar after the open campaign officially ended on Monday evening. They are demanding that the police and Election Commission officials should take Tawda into custody.
