LDF's newspaper ad; UDF lodges complaint with Election Commission, says act of inciting hatred and sectarianism

PALAKKAD: The UDF has lodged a complaint against the action of the CPM and the Left candidate in Palakkad for violating the election code of conduct and giving advertisements in newspapers without the permission of the Election Commission. UDF election committee general convener Marakkar Marayamangalam is the one who lodged a complaint with the Election Commission. The complaint said that what happened was a blatant violation of the election rules and that it was an act of creating religious hatred and sectarianism in the state and strong legal action should be taken in the incident.

LDF came out with an election advertisement featuring Sandeep Warrier, who came to the Congress from the BJP. The ad is titled 'Sarin Tharangam'. Sandeep Warrier is mentioned a lot in the ad. The advertisement was published in Siraj, the mouthpiece of the Sunni Kanthapuram sect, and Suprabhatham, the mouthpiece of Samastha.

Old Facebook post shared by Sandeep Warrier on the Kashmir issue, a picture of him dressed up in an RSS outfit, a call for a massacre of Kashmiris, a post that the CAA will be implemented in Kerala, and the assassination of Gandhi are some of the references in the ad. The ad also included headlines against Sandeep such as "Will you accept this poisonous tongue?". The ad criticised the Congress for expelling a secularist like Sarin and adopting the poison of communalism. The advertisement, which has the form of a news style, is given on the front page of both newspapers.

The stand taken by the Congress against Sandeep was a big discussion in the LDF. This advertisement move by the LDF now is aimed at minority votes.
