TEL AVIV: Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Hamas will no longer rule Palestine. He said this during his visit to Gaza. He added that Israel has destroyed the Islamist group's military capabilities. He also spoke about the Israeli citizens who are being held hostage by Hamas.
"Anyone who dares to harm our hostages will have blood on their head. We will hunt you down and get you. Whoever brings us a hostage will find a safe way, he and his family, to get out. Choose, the choice is yours, but the result will be the same. We'll get them all back," Netanyahu said.
According to reports, Netanyahu made the rare visit to Gaza to directly assess the activities of the Israeli army and gather information. Netanyahu, who was seen wearing a combat jacket and ballistic helmet, was accompanied by the defence minister and the army chief.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas fighters from Palestine launched a lightning attack on Israel. Thousands of rockets from Gaza rained down on Israel like a storm of fire. Hamas fighters stormed in, resulting in the death of 1,200 Israelis. Over 200 Israelis were taken hostage. The devastation Israel unleashed on Gaza in response continues to this day.
More than 40,000 innocent people have been killed, and 2 million people have been displaced, turning Gaza into a literal wasteland. Arab nations such as Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, and Iraq have extended overt and covert support to Hamas. Groups like the Houthis and Hezbollah are engaged in direct warfare against Israel.
