Fadnavis, Ajit Pawar cast their votes; Maharashtra leaders urge people to come and vote in large numbers

MUMBAI: The Maharashtra assembly election is witnessing a fierce battle between the BJP-led Maha Yuti alliance and the Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition, comprising Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction), Congress, and NCP (Sharad Pawar faction). In the initial hours, voter turnout was reported to be lower compared to previous elections. As per data available till 9 AM, only 6.61% of polling had been recorded across the state.

9.7 crore people will exercise their right to vote in about 1 lakh polling stations across the state. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and his family cast their votes in Nagpur. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat also cast his vote in Nagpur. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and his family voted in the Baramati assembly constituency. He told the media that he was confident that the people would ensure his victory in Baramati.

NCP leader Sharad Pawar and his daughter Supriya Sule cast their votes in Baramati. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge urged the people to come and vote in large numbers to save the pride of Maharashtra. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and his family cast their votes in Mumbai.

This is the first assembly election to be held in Maharashtra after the split in both Shiv Sena and NCP. The counting of votes will take place on November 23. The term of the current government ends on November 26.
