How can an honest investigation be conducted if Saji Cherian continues in office?

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader V D Satheesan sought the resignation of Minister Saji Cherian. The court has already made it clear that the report given by the police while Saji Cherian is still in office, is not acceptable. If Saji Cherian continues in office, the investigation will turn into a farce. In the wake of his unconstitutional remarks and the court verdict, Saji Cherian should resign his ministerial post. If he is not ready to resign, the chief minister should oust him from the cabinet, said Satheesan.

The court has directed that an honest officer should investigate. How can an honest and impartial investigation be conducted while Saji Cherian continues in the post? The situation is more serious now than when he resigned when he made the unconstitutional statement. The chief minister also took the wrong step by reinstating Saji Cherian, who insulted the constitution, into the cabinet. The high court verdict further underlines the opposition's stance that reinstatement in the cabinet was wrong.
