Film world bids adieu to Meghanathan; actor laid to rest near memorial of his father Balan K Nair

KOZHIKODE: The Malayalam film world has bid adieu to actor Meghanathan who passed away this morning. The funeral was held at around 3.30 pm near his ancestral house in Shoranur. He was laid to rest near the memorial of his father, actor Balan K Nair. Meghanathan, who had been undergoing treatment for lung disease at Baby Memorial Hospital in Kozhikode, breathed his last today morning.

Prominent personalities from the film and cultural spheres paid their last respects to Meghanathan. Former Minister AK Balan, MLAs P Mammikutty and Muhammed Muhsin, along with actors Siju Wilson, Kottayam Nazeer, and Seema G. Nair, offered their tributes. Numerous fans and locals also arrived to pay their last respects.

Meghanathan is the son of actor Balan K Nair and Sharada Nair. He became famous through villain roles in films. He made his film debut through the film 'Asthram', which was released in 1983. Meghanathan acted in about 50 films including EE Puzhayum Kadannu, Chenkol, Uthaman etc. He also acted in several television serials such as Parayaan Baaki Vachathu, Snehanjali and Meghajeevitham. He is survived by his wife Susmitha and daughter Parvathy.
