MALAPPURAM: Four have been taken into custody in the case of stealing gold after attacking the owners of the shop. Those in custody are Lijin Rajan and Prabin Lal of Kannur and Satheesan and Nikhil of Thrissur. They were taken into custody by the Thrissur East Police.

The four are being questioned. The gold has not been found. Police said five more are there in the gang. Gold worth Rs 2.15 crore has been stolen. Police said search for the accused has been intensified in Thrissur, Palakkad and Kannur.

The gang attacked the two brothers while they were returning home with the gold after closing the shop last night. They attacked the jewelry owners Yousuf and Shanawas. The team in a car stole the gold after hitting the scooter. The thieves arrived wearing masks.

The robbery was minutes before they reached the house. The accused got out of the car and pepper sprayed Yousuf and Shanawas. They beat Yousuf when he tried to resist them. They then grabbed the bag they had in their hand and another one kept under the seat of the scooter, and left the place.

Yousuf said they take the gold home as there is not enough security in the shop. When the three attacked the two, the other person was sitting in the car.
