DUBAI: The cost of living will increase for Dubai residents who have to travel to work and other places regularly. A new Salik toll gate has become operational in Dubai since yesterday. The new toll gate has been installed on the Business Bay Bridge.

The roads connecting major business cities such as Sharjah and East Dubai are connected to the new Salik toll gate. Many people are complaining that the new toll gate has cost them eight dirhams more per day. Some Dubai residents have pointed out that the new Salik gate has also increased taxi fares. Moreover, the fact that the new gate has not been updated on Google Maps is also frustrating travelers.

In addition to the Business Bay Bridge, a new Salik toll gate has also been installed at the Al Safa South Gate. This too has become operational since yesterday. It has been installed on Sheikh Zayed Road between Al Meydan Street and Umm Al Sharif Street. With this, the total number of Salik gates in the city has increased to ten. Dubai residents are trying to find alternative routes with the arrival of two new toll gates. While the new gates are expected to ease traffic congestion, many are concerned that they will increase the cost of living.
