SINGAPORE: A Singapore court has found a 73-year-old Indian guilty of sexually harassing four women during a flight journey. The incident took place on a Singapore Airlines flight which was travelling from the US to Singapore. As per the complaint, the accused had sexually harassed one of the victims four times on the flight. The accused person has been identified as Balasubramanian Ramesh.
On November 18, the accused harassed three individuals on separate occasions while on a flight. It has not been disclosed whether the victims were passengers or crew members. At 3:14 a.m., he assaulted one woman. Five minutes later, he targeted a second woman. Between 3:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., he allegedly harassed the second woman three more times. By 9:30 a.m., he assaulted a third woman, followed by a fourth incident involving another woman around 5:30 p.m.
The court will announce the verdict in the case on December 13. As per the law, the accused could face up to three years of imprisonment, a fine, caning, or a combination of all three as punishment. However, reports suggest that caning might be waived since the accused is over 50 years old.
