ADOOR: The police have registered a POCSO case in connection with the incident where a Plus Two student, who died of fever, was found to be five months pregnant. The 17-year-old girl, hailing from Mundappally, died on Tuesday morning while undergoing treatment at Vandanam Medical College. The post-mortem report had revealed that the girl was pregnant. The police had earlier registered a case of unnatural death following the girl's death.

Police said that the internal organs of the girl have been sent for examination. On November 19, the girl had gone for an excursion from her school. However, after travelling some distance, the girl told the teachers that she was not feeling well. Following this, the school authorities summoned her parents and sent the girl with them. The girl, who later developed a fever, was taken to a hospital near her house.

Upon conducting a blood test, it was found that the girl was having some infection. Following this, she was referred to the Medical College. Subsequently, she was admitted to the Vandanam Medical College, where she passed away while undergoing treatment. The doctors suspected something unusual and conducted a post-mortem. It was through the post-mortem report that it was revealed she was pregnant. It is suspected that the girl may have contracted the infection after taking a medicine without anyone's knowledge to have an abortion.
