THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sandeep Varier, who left the BJP and joined the Congress, has begun his work. He is moving ahead with steps to bring the disgruntled BJP activists to the Congress. He made this clear via a Facebook post. He also assured that no one leaving the BJP and joining the Congress will be politically orphaned. 'No one willing to completely reject the ideology of hatred and enmity and become part of secularism and unite with the ideology of the Congress movement will be politically orphaned. This is sure', Sandeep wrote on Facebook. It is clear that Sandeep is targeting those disgruntled with the BJP.
Sandeep is also continuing his efforts to bring former Wayanad district president K P Madhu, who resigned from the BJP the other day, to the Congress. It is reported that he contacted Madhu and held discussions on this matter. Madhu told a private channel that Sandeep contacted him and said that he would think about it and give a reply.
The move to bring Madhu to the LDF is also active. Madhu has also clarified that he will cooperate with the LDF or the UDF if demands are accepted. Madhu clarified that no BJP members have been in touch with him after his resignation and that some local workers had expressed their concerns. Madhu resigned from the BJP yesterday following a rift with the leadership.
The state leadership is afraid that more BJP leaders will leave the party and join the Congress after Sandeep Varier and Madhu. Most of the workers say that it was the state leadership's mistake to lose Sandeep Warrier, who has a lot of public influence just before a crucial election. The result of this was clearly reflected in the Palakkad elections. They ask how the people will trust the party if leaders like this come out against each other in a party that does not have even a single MLA in the state.
Meantime, K Surendran has the full support of BJP central leadership, for the internal rumblings in Kerala. The central leadership's stance is that let Surendran continue as the state president until the assembly elections. The central leadership has accepted the report given by Surendran over the defeat in Palakkad. The leadership is of the opinion that there will be no further outbursts after the BJP leaders in Palakkad were banned from public comments. The criticism, including that of the municipal president, regarding the by-election results had led to major discussions. The leadership will also take steps to persuade the councilors.
