KOCHI: Municipal Corporation has taken strict action against a famous eatery after special school students from Kozhikode suffered food poisoning in Kochi during the school-conducted excursion program. The municipality has taken action against a catering company called 'Lily's Kitchen', which was operating on MM Road in Kochi. The establishment was shut down and the Food Safety Department revoked its license.

The police have registered a case against the Maria tourist boat's owner and the catering establishment's owner. A total of 104 students from Karunyatheeram Special School, Kattippara, visited Kochi for the excursion. Among them, 75 suffered food poisoning. Even teaching faculties accompanying students suffered from the disease. The students consumed food from a boat (owned by Maria Tours) in Marine Drive Kochi.

The police registered a case against them based on the complaint filed by the school authorities. The students undergoing treatment are said to be in satisfactory health condition.
