"Social movement of poor, everyone is under the party": CPM activists stage protest march to area committee office holding 'Save CPM' placards

KOLLAM: A section of CPM activists staged a protest march to the Karunagappally area committee office. Holding placards with 'Save CPM' written on them, a section of activists staged a protest march to the CPM Karunagappally area committee office shouting slogans "This is a social movement of the poor, it should be saved; the social movement is more important and everyone is under the party."

Earlier, posters containing allegations against district committee member PR Vasanth were pasted at many places, including in front of the office. A scuffle broke out due to factionalism during the CPM Kulasekharapuram North local conference. Even the state committee members were locked up in a room here. B Somaprasad, K Rajagopal and district secretariat member Radhamani were locked up. The protest was against the unilateral decision to appoint a local secretary.

Fights and scuffles took place at four conferences held at Thodiyoor, Kulasekharapuram West, Kulasekharapuram North and Kalleli areas. The poster, which read, "Let Chettan Bava and Aniyan Bava, the bar owners of the local committee, be destroyed," also appeared as part of the protest.
