THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM leader Bipin C Babu bid adieu to the red camp and joined the BJP on Saturday. Bipin’s shocking decision comes amidst factionalism in the Alappuzha CPM. He was a member of the CPM Area Committee. A bevvy of top BJP leaders lined up to give Bipin a rousing welcome at the BJP organizational meeting in Thiruvananthapuram today.

He has held various positions including District Secretary of SFI and District President of DYFI. After switching sides, Bipin revealed that more people from CPM will join the BJP in the coming days.

While responding to the media, Bipin said his switch was inevitable and expressed worry over communal forces hijacking CPM and taking away its secular standards. Bipin also showered praises on PM Modi for his development works across the country.

“In the last ten years, the government led by Modiji has been carrying out projects beneficial to the common people. Just take the National Highway in Kerala as an example. Development work done in railways. I have decided to join BJP seeing how their work has benefited common people” said Bipin.

Meanwhile, BJP state president K Surendran took an indirect hit at BJP defector Sandeep Varier on Saturday.

“Some sewages need to be moved out to ensure clean water again runs through the place,” said Surendran.
