KOZHIKODE: Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association distanced themselves from the now circulating price list on social media. Since the last day, this notice has been doing the rounds on social media and various WhatsApp groups.

Many people showed vehemence at the stark rise in the price of snacks and hot beverages mentioned in the updated list circulated on media. With the protest going out of hand, the association came forward with an explanation.

Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association dismissed the updated list as a sham and explained that it was not the custom of the association to alter the price list often.

“Some hotel offer biriyani for Rs 50. Some others use high-quality rice for their biryani dish. Is it pragmatic to persuade the hotel serving high-quality rice biriyani to sell their product at Rs 50? Such a format won’t be accepted.

Considering the present situation, there is a need to increase the price of snacks and teas. Many owners of eateries are struggling to cope with the increased price of food items. But it is unwarranted to circulate a false price list on social media and pile up the responsibility on the association. We have nothing to do with it.” Said the association.
