THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rains will continue in the state. The Central Meteorological Department has announced that there is a possibility of moderate rains and strong winds blowing at speeds up to 40 kmph at isolated places in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Ernakulam districts in the next three hours.
A yellow alert has been issued for Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram tomorrow. The possibility of isolated heavy rains is predicted. The Central Meteorological Department means that heavy rains will fall between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm in 24 hours. Rains with thunder and lightning are expected.
An orange alert has been issued in seven districts the day after tomorrow. Orange alert has been issued for Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts. The possibility of extremely heavy rains is predicted at isolated places. The Central Meteorological Department defines Very Heavy Rainfall as rainfall ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm in 24 hours. A yellow alert has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Kannur and Kasaragod districts.
On Tuesday, an orange alert has been issued for Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts and a yellow alert has been issued for Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur and Palakkad districts. On Wednesday, a yellow alert has been issued for Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad.
