KOCHI: The price of the cylinder used for commercial purposes has been hiked in the country. This is the fifth consecutive month that the price has been increased. A 19 kg cylinder was increased by Rs 16 today. With this, the price has increased by Rs 173.5 in five months. However, there has been no change in the price of a cylinder for domestic use.
The new price of a 19-kg cylinder in Kerala is Rs 1827. In Chennai, it will be Rs 1980.50. With the increase in gas prices, hoteliers are likely to increase the prices of food items. There are already complaints that some hotels are charging exorbitant prices in the name of the increase in the prices of essential goods.
