THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Extremely heavy rainfall has been predicted in the state. Orange alert has been issued in Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki and Thrissur today. There is a possibility of very heavy rain in isolated places. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) defines very heavy rainfall as 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm of rain in 24 hours.
Yellow alert has been issued in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod today. There is a possibility of isolated heavy rain. Heavy rain is defined as 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain in 24 hours.
The IMD has informed that there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thundershowers and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kmph at isolated places in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur in the next three hours.
The possibility of extremely heavy rainfall is predicted tomorrow. Red alert has been sounded in four districts. Red alert is in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur. The possibility of extremely heavy rain is predicted in isolated places. The IMD said that more than 204.4 mm of rain will be received in 24 hours.
An orange alert has been declared in Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad and Kasaragod tomorrow and a yellow alert in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Kottayam. The next day, a yellow alert has been issued in Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod on Tuesday.
