THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The capital city witnessed internal turmoil within the CPM as Mangalapuram Area Secretary Madhu Mullassery staged a dramatic walkout from the area conference in protest against District Secretary V Joy’s stance. The dispute stemmed from V Joy’s opposition to Madhu Mullassery continuing as the area secretary, resulting in M Jaleel being appointed to the position instead.

Speculations are rife that Madhu Mullassery may leave the party following this development. This incident comes in the wake of earlier unrest within the Karunagappally Area Committee, where public protests erupted over the committee elections. The situation escalated, prompting a meeting chaired by State Secretary M V Govindan, during which it was decided to dissolve the committee entirely.

M V Govindan reaffirmed the party's zero-tolerance policy toward wrong tendencies and emphasized that the Karunagappally issue was not indicative of factionalism but a necessary step to maintain discipline within the party.
