KANNUR: The police arrested a person in connection with the theft of money and gold from the house of businessman Ashraf in Valapattanam. The arrested is Vijesh (30) of Kochukombal, staying near Ashraf's house. The money and gold stolen from his house has been found.

Ashraf and his family had locked the house and gone to a wedding in Madurai. According to police, Vijesh, well-acquainted with the house broke the window and entered the house. The police found the stolen goods from under the bed in his house.

The police investigation, focusing on CCTV footage and fingerprints, revealed that he entered the house on the November 20th and 21st. However, his face was not clear. It is still necessary to know whether he planned the theft alone or there was someone else with him.

Vijesh is a welding worker. The fingerprints obtained from the spot did not match with the regular criminals. The police dog that arrived at the spot reached near his house also. Vijesh had been under police surveillance since it was learned that the thief was someone who knew about the locker in Ashraf's house.

His phone was taken into police custody Sunday morning, and he was arrested when he came to get it back. He confessed to the crime during interrogation. Ashraf came to know about the theft when he returned home on November 24. About 20 officers of the special investigation team led by Kannur ACP investigated the case.
