NEW YORK: US President Trump has appointed Lebanese-American businessman Massad Boulos as his adviser on Middle East affairs. Trump announced that Massad Boulos will serve as a senior adviser on Arab and Middle East issues.
Massad is the father-in-law of Trump's daughter Tiffany. He has been a frequent negotiator for Trump with Arab American and Muslim leaders. This was during the election campaign. This is the second time that Trump has appointed a relative of his children to a key position in the country. Trump had appointed Charles Kushner, the father of his son-in-law Jared Kushner and a real estate tycoon, as the ambassador to France. He made the announcements through the social media platform Truth Social.
Massad was the one who negotiated the crucial agreement to support the United States during the US-backed Israeli military offensive in Lebanon. His father and grandfather are influential figures in Lebanese politics. Massad's father-in-law worked with Hezbollah.
Tiffany and Massad's son Michael were married in November 2022 during Trump's first term. Meanwhile, Kash Patel, who was also the head of the US Department of Defense in the first Trump administration, was appointed FBI director. He is known as a Trump confidant. Trump describes him as an 'America First Fighter'.
