CANBERRA: India secured a comfortable six-wicket victory in a two-day practice match against the Australian Prime Minister's XI, held ahead of the second pink ball Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The match, played under day-night conditions, was reduced to 46 overs per side due to rain on the first day.
Batting first, the Prime Minister's XI posted 240 runs in 43.2 overs. Opener Sam Constas shone with a brilliant century (107), supported by Jack Clayton (40) and wicketkeeper Hanno Jacobs (61). Indian pacer Harshit Rana led the bowling attack with impressive figures, taking four wickets. Akash Deep claimed two, while Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Washington Sundar, and Ravindra Jadeja picked up one wicket each.
In response, India reached the target in 43 overs, eventually finishing with 257 for five in their allotted 46 overs. Shubman Gill top-scored with a steady 50, while Yashasvi Jaiswal (45), Nitish Kumar Reddy (42) and Washington Sundar (42) made vital contributions. Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with 27 runs. Indian captain Rohit Sharma, however, struggled in his first innings of the tour, managing just three runs.
