KOZHIKODE: The investigation team in the Pantheeramkavu domestic violence case is preparing to file a chargesheet soon, following the Kozhikode Judicial First Class Magistrate Court's rejection of the bail application of accused Rahul P Gopal. The case, which involves serious allegations, is drawing significant legal attention.
The complainant’s family has announced that they will consult with their lawyer to decide whether to file a new complaint in the case that was previously quashed by the High Court. Rahul, who is currently in remand at the Kozhikode District Jail, faces charges under multiple sections, including attempted murder.
Rahul and the complainant, who married in Guruvayur last May, are now in the process of separating, with the woman seeking a divorce. The woman decided she no longer wished to live with Rahul and initiated legal action. She had originally filed a domestic violence complaint on November 12, but there were concerns over how the police handled the case. This led to the suspension of CI AS Sarin, who failed to register the complaint and the involvement of Civil Police Officer Sarath Lal, who allegedly helped the accused evade capture.
Subsequently, Rahul and the woman approached the High Court, claiming they wished to reconcile and requesting that the case be quashed. However, despite their claims, the woman later filed another complaint, alleging that Rahul had physically abused her again after they had been counseled and were living together.
The accused's family is now considering filing another bail application in court. Rahul’s defense lawyer has indicated plans to appeal the rejection of the bail application promptly.
