IPS officer meets tragic end while on his way to take charge as ASP

KASARGOD: A young IPS officer met a tragic end after his jeep overturned while on his way to take charge as ASP. The deceased is Madhya Pradesh native Harshvardhan, a probationary officer. The accident took place near Kittane in Hassan, Karnataka, on Sunday night.

The Bolero jeep of the police, in which Harshvardhan was travelling, had a tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control and the vehicle to overturn. The jeep's driver, Manjegowda, a constable from the Hassan police camp, suffered minor injuries. Although Harshvardhan was rushed to a hospital in Hassan with serious injuries, he soon succumbed to his injuries.

Harshavardhan, a 2023 IPS batch officer, was set to take charge as the ASP of Hassan district yesterday morning. He had completed his training at the police academy in Mysuru before heading to Hassan.
