Yet another film is set to be made on the life of South Indian film icon Silk Smitha. The biopic, titled 'Silk Smitha- Queen of the South', will feature Indian-Australian actress and model Chandrika Ravi as Silk Smitha. Directed by Jayaram Shankaran, the film will be produced by SB Vijay Amritaraj under the banner of STR Cinema.
The announcement of the film was made on the birth anniversary of Silk Smitha. The makers have also released an announcement video of the film. The film is expected to take the audience through the unheard stories of Silk Smitha's life. The shooting of the film will begin next year. 'Silk Smitha- Queen of the South' will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi languages.
The Bollywood film 'Dirty Picture', which starred Vidya Balan in the lead role, was inspired by the life of Silk Smitha. In Malayalam, the film 'Climax' also told the story of Smitha's life. Renowned actress Sana Khan played the role of Smitha in the film.
