The hostel authorities informed the police. Elamakkara police rushed to the spot under the leadership of Ernakulam Assistant Commissioner of Police V Jayakumar followed by the fire force from Gandhinagar. Though the ACP and senior fire officer Anilraj reached the terrace and tried to comfort the woman, she refused to back down. Fire force members Gokul P Anil, Shiju T Tharakan, Akshay Bella, Megha Dixon and Archana reached the terrace and took positions at various places. In the meantime, two SIs who came upstairs forcibly caught hold of the woman and rescued her. The rescue operation was completed by 4.20 am.
