THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Mathu, daughter of veteran CPM leader Madhu Mullassery accused the CPM of humiliating her father, who, she says, made significant contributions to the party during his tenure.

Speaking to the media, Mathu recounted her father’s dedication to the party, highlighting his tenure as the local committee secretary for eight years and the area committee secretary for ten years in Mangalapuram.

“My father worked tirelessly for the CPM. He spearheaded the construction of a party building in Mangalapuram, raising ₹27 lakh for the party account. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan himself inaugurated the building. Tell me, which other area committee secretary has achieved this? Yet, after all this, the party sidelined him. They humiliated him and our family,” Mathu said.

Mathu also refuted allegations against her father, claiming they emerged only after he left the party. “If the party had issues with my father, why weren’t these allegations raised earlier? This is nothing but a smear campaign to target him after his exit.”

Mathu, a long-time supporter of the Communist Party, said her decision to leave was influenced by the treatment meted out to her family. “We have been loyal to the party for generations. I have been voting for the CPM since I turned 18 and so has my family but the party’s actions have caused us immense distress. Now, I am committed to working for the BJP and doing everything I can for the party,” she added.
