ALAPPUZHA: A case has been registered against Bipin C Babu, who left the CPM and joined the BJP, on a complaint of dowry harassment. The Karilakulangara police registered a case against Bipin on the complaint of his wife Minisa. CPM Kayamkulam area committee member and Bipin's mother Prasanna Kumari is the second accused in the case.
Minisa's complaint was earlier submitted to the CPM leadership. CPM had taken action against Bipin C Babu on a complaint that he attacked his wife for questioning his illicit relationship. CPM Alappuzha area committee member Bipin C Babu left the party and joined the BJP following this. Bipin's wife lodged the complaint with the police two days ago.
In her complaint, Minisa has alleged that Bipin C Babu took Rs 10 lakh from her father as dowry and slapped her for more dowry. Minisa says that she was physically harmed and Bipin tried to attack her with an ironbox. It is also alleged that Minisa was beaten up for questioning Bipin's illicit relationship with a woman.
Bipin C Babu, a prominent leader of the CPM, left the party at a time when CPM was facing factional issues in Alappuzha district. Bipin C Babu has held important positions such as Alappuzha district panchayat's Krishnapuram division member, district panchayat vice-president, former president of Muthukulam block panchayat and senate member of Kerala University.
