Youth dies after being beaten up by wife's relatives; police register case against wife and relatives

ALAPPUZHA: It has been alleged that a youth died after being beaten up by his wife's family members. The deceased is Arattupuzha Perumbally native Vishnu (34). The incident took place at around 10 pm yesterday. Thrikkunnappuzha police have registered a case against Vishnu's wife and three relatives based on the complaint lodged by Vishnu's family.

Vishnu and his wife Athira have been living separately for the last one year. The couple has one daughter. Vishnu used to take his daughter home during holidays. On Tuesday, a quarrel erupted between Vishnu and Athira when he came to drop his daughter back at Athira's house.

Upon seeing both Vishnu and Athira quarrelling, Athira's relatives intervened in the matter. This eventually led to a conflict. Vishnu sustained an injury after he fell down during the fight. Although he was immediately rushed to the Kayamkulam Taluk Hospital, his life could not be saved.
