HYDERABAD: A woman died in the massive stampede that occurred during the late-night screening of Telugu superstar Allu Arjun’s latest movie ‘Pushpa-2’. Revathi (39), a native of Dilsukhnagar, Hyderabad died in the incident.
Revathi came to watch the premiere show at Sandhya Theater with her husband Bhaskar and children Teju (9) and Sanvi (7). In the stampede, Revathi fell to the ground and could not get up. The situation turned worse as more people fell on her. After clearing the crowd, Revathi was taken out but was unconscious. Despite rushing to the hospital, her life could not be saved. Revathi's son Teju also fell unconscious in the stampede.
Teju's health condition is satisfactory at present. Revathi's husband Bhaskar and daughter Sanvi are undergoing treatment. The premiere show of Pushpa 2 was organized at 11 pm. Just before the screening, news spread about Allu Arjun planning a visit to the theatre. This resulted in people coming in droves to the theatre. The crowd went frenzy, making it difficult for security officials to control.
Meanwhile, four people were taken into custody by the police for lighting torches during the screening of Pushpa 2. The incident took place during last night's show at Bengaluru's Urvashi Theatre.
