KASARGOD: The demise of expat businessman Abdul Gafoor has proved to be a murder. The police arrested four including a woman occultist in connection with the incident. The arrested are Jinnumma alias Shameemma of Koolikunnu, her husband Ubais, Asnifa of Poochakkad and Ayesha of Madhur.

The police found that the accused had performed blackmagic at Abdul Gafoor's house, promising to double the gold. It was performed in front of the gold. The gang stole 596 sovereigns of gold.

M C Abdul Gafoor of Baithur Rahma near Farookiya Masjid at Poochakkad was found dead in his house on April 14 in 2023. There was no one at home at the time of his death. His wife, children and relatives thought it was a natural death. The body was laid to rest. However, it was only later that the relatives came to know that 596 sovereigns of gold were missing from their house.

This raised suspicions about the death. Abdul Gafoor's son Ahmed Muzammil filed a complaint with the Bekal police. Investigation revealed that it was not a natural death but a murder. The police arrested the accused soon after. Abdul Gafoor was the owner of a supermarket in Sharjah.
