NEW DELHI: In a shocking incident, a 22-year-old youth stabbed his mother to death for not allowing him to marry his girlfriend. Sulochana, a native of Khayala in West Delhi, was murdered by her younger son Saavan. The incident took place on Friday night. Police have arrested Saavan.

The police said that the accused tried to make it seem like a murder during a robbery. Around 8:30 PM on Friday, the accused himself called the police control room and informed them that his mother was found murdered at home and that her gold earrings were missing. However, the police did not find any sign of robbery during the investigation. Furthermore, it was found that only the earrings of the woman were missing, and no other valuable items were stolen. This led to further questioning of Saavan, who eventually confessed to the crime.

Sulochana had earlier told Saavan that if he married a girl of his choice, she would not give him any property. Sulochana had also decided to conduct the marriage of Saavan's elder brother, Kapil. It was then that Saavan revealed that he was in love with a girl and that he wanted to marry her. However, Sulochana told him that she would not allow him to marry that girl. She told him that if he discussed the matter further, she would not give him his share of the property. Following this, Saavan decided to kill her. Saavan, who worked as a driver, used to give his entire earnings to his mother.
