'Aren't you going to Ponnani?' Sandeep Varier responds to mockery hearing since joining Congress

Sandeep Varier has now answered to the question 'Aren't you going to Ponnani’ which he has been hearing since joining the congress party. He joined the congress party after quitting the BJP. Sandeep Varier in a Facebook post said that he is going there today. He said that he will visit the Sabarimala pilgrims' resting center in Ponnani, organized jointly by the Congress Mandal Committee and the MP Gangadharan Foundation, at 12 noon today.

His post said
'Since joining the Congress, Mithroms have been asking me ‘aren't you going to Ponnani’. Finally, there is an answer to that question. Going to Ponnani today. Will visit the Sabarimala pilgrims' resting centre in Ponnani, organised jointly by the Congress Mandal Committee and MP Gangadharan Foundation, at 12 noon today. Swamiye Saranamayyappa...'

Meantime, there were reports the other day that Sandeep would be given the post of KPCC general secretary. Soon after this, K Muraleedharan had also said that the party would not abandon Sandeep. 'Sandeep Varier will definitely have a place in the Congress. The high command will decide what would that be. Sandeep’s arrival has given energy to the party. Sandeep Varier has a priority in it. It does not mean that the existing people will be shelved. Discussions have just begun,' Muraleedharan said.

Sandeep Varier, who arrived in Delhi the other day, had met Congress leaders. There were reports that the Congress had assured Sandeep Varier of organizational office and a seat to contest when he joined the party itself. Sources close to the party are indicating that Sandeep will be made the general secretary during the reorganization. There are also reports that he may be given a post even before that, without waiting for the reorganization.

Sandeep joined the Congress just days before the voting in the Palakkad by-election. This was due to some issues with the BJP. Sandeep had attacked the BJP as a factory that only produces hatred and that there is no freedom to even express opinions in that party.

The Congress leadership assessed that Sandeep Varier’s presence was helpful in Rahul Mamkootathil's victory in the Palakkad by-election. Hence, the party has decided to give him a respectable post.
