DUBAI: Bangladesh produced an upset and defeated India in the U-19 Asia Cup final. This is the second consecutive U-19 title for the Tigers. India lost by 59 runs in the final in an engaging match held at the Dubai International Stadium.
Chasing a target of 199 runs, India could only make 139 runs in just 35.2 overs. Mohammad Iqbal Hasan Emon of Bangladesh was crowned the player of the final and tournament. Muhammad Iqbal Hasan Emon and Azizul Hakeem Tamim took three wickets each while Al Fahad took two crucial wickets to keep India in check.
Captain Muhammad Aman is India's top scorer with 26(65). Hardik Raj 24(21) and Karthikeya 21(430 tried to put up a fight but couldn’t last long. Openers Ayush Mhatre 1(8) and 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi 9(7) disappointed. Nikhil Kumar 0(2) and wicketkeeper Harvansh Pangalia 6(6) crumbled at crucial moments.
Batting first, Rizan Hussain 47(65), Mohammad Shihab James 40(67) and wicketkeeper Farid Hasan 39(49) ensured a decent total for Bangladesh. Yudhjit Guha, Chetan Sharma and Hardik Raj took two wickets each for India. Kiran Chormale, KP Karthikeya and Ayush Mhatre took one wicket each.
