THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) has issued a crucial notification to new vehicle buyers. The new order says that a person with a permanent address in Kerala can register a vehicle at any RT office in the state. The condition that the vehicle owner must register within the RT office limits has now been lifted.
According to the new order, changes will also be made to the software. The transport commissioner's directive is based on the high court order. Previously, vehicles were allowed to be registered only at the RT office in the area where they have a permanent address. With the new law coming, even a person living in Kasaragod will be able to acquire a Thiruvananthapuram series vehicle number.
Although it was previously possible to register a vehicle at a place without a permanent address, the Motor Vehicles Department had put forward several conditions for this. If you are moving for work, the Motor Vehicles Department required the address of the institution where you work and an affidavit certified by a higher official. These steps will be avoided from now on.
