KOZHIKODE: The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) has taken action against the KSRTC driver who drove the bus talking on his mobile phone through the Thamarassery pass. The action comes after the visuals of the incident went viral. The license of KSRTC driver Muhammed Rafeeq of Kozhikode has been cancelled for three months. In addition to this, he will have to attend a road safety class for five days. The action is being taken by the Kozhikode Enforcement RTO.

Rafeeq drove the bus talking on his mobile phone through the pass last Saturday. The incident happened in the Kozhikode-bound bus 'KL 15 8378' that left Kalpetta Old Stand at 4.50 pm. The passengers captured the visuals after the driver kept using his phone. In the video that surfaced, the driver can be seen driving the vehicle with one hand on the steering wheel of the bus and the other hand on the phone. The passengers themselves filed a complaint with the Thamarassery police. The KSRTC driver was seen driving the bus with phone on one hand on the road with nine hairpin bends.
