KOZHIKODE: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has sent a letter to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan regarding Wayanad relief. The content of the letter is that there was no response from the Kerala government regarding Karnataka's promise to build houses and the Karnataka government had informed that it would pay for 100 houses. In the letter, Siddaramaiah informed that the matter was discussed at the Kerala Chief Secretary level as well and Karnataka is still ready to implement the promise. The letter says that Kerala's non-response is an obstacle to keeping the promise and that Karnataka is ready to buy the land and provide the houses.

Karnataka government had announced 100 houses for Wayanad landslide victims. During the Wayanad landslide disaster, Siddaramaiah had written on X that Karnataka will be supporting Kerala in all possible ways. Officials were also sent for rescue operations during the disaster from Karnataka.

AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal MP had announced the other day that the Karnataka and Telangana governments have expressed their willingness to buy land and build houses on their own expense for the rehabilitation of Wayanad. He had strongly criticized the Kerala state government for not acquiring the land for these houses.

"The Kerala government has not even taken over the land for the houses announced by the Karnataka and Telangana governments. Despite constant requests from both the governments, the Kerala government did not even communicate the matter," KC Venugopal accused. "Under the leadership of Priyanka Gandhi, Kerala MPs met Amit Shah and demanded that central aid be announced immediately. Governments are taking an irresponsible stand on this issue," he added.
