PALAKKAD: An amount of Rs one core has been seized while trying to smuggle it in a car carried without documents at the toll plaza in Walayar. The money was seized last night. BJP local leader identified as Prasad C Nair and his driver Prasanth were taken into custody in the incident and later released on bail.

The notes were kept in a box bringing fruits in a Karnataka-registered car. The people in the vehicle said that it was money brought for business use. However, they were not able to produce any documents in this regard. Following this, the police proceeded with steps to seize the money and hand it over to the court. The police also conducted a search at Prasad's house. It is not clear whether anything has been seized from there.

Following the revelation of black money by former BJP district committee office secretary Tirur Satheesh, the court had ordered further investigation into the Kodakara black money case. The investigation team approached the court seeking further investigation. The BJP's election funds were brought in six sacks. It was revealed that Dharmarajan, the main witness in the case, brought the money and this had turned into a major controversy.
