Heavy rain and thunder in next hour; residents of three districts should stay alert tomorrow

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chance of rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in Kerala. Indian Meteorological Department has informed that there is a possibility of light rain at isolated places in Palakkad district in the next three hours.

Orange alert has been announced in Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur districts tomorrow. Chance of isolated very heavy rain is forecast. IMD defines very heavy rainfall as rainfall between 115.6 mm and 204.4 mm in 24 hours.

Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts are on yellow alert tomorrow. A chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast here. IMD defines heavy rainfall as rainfall between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm in 24 hours. Thunderstorms are expected.

Yellow alert has been announced in various districts for the day after tomorrow. Yellow alert is announced in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur districts. Authorities have informed that fishing should not be done on Kerala coasts from tomorrow till Saturday and on Lakshadweep coasts on Friday and Saturday.
