PALAKKAD: Education Minister V Sivankutty has sought an immediate report on the accident in Panayampadam in Palakkad, where four schoolgirls lost their lives after a lorry overturned. The Minister directed the Palakkad Collector to investigate the incident and submit a report. The Minister directed the Public Education Director to immediately visit the accident site. The Minister expressed deep sorrow over the accident. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also condoled the deaths, calling the loss of four young lives "shocking and brutal." The CM said that necessary action would be taken after conducting a detailed investigation into the accident.
Four students of Karimba Higher Secondary School were killed in the accident at Panayampadam in Mannarkkad. The deceased are Irfana, Mitha, Ridha and Ayisha. One person was injured in the accident. The girls were walking home from school when a lorry carrying cement lost control after hitting another vehicle and toppled over them. All four died on the spot. The accident occurred while the students were returning home after an exam. The lorry carrying cement lost control and overturned. Reports suggest that the lorry was overspeeding. One child narrowly escaped after she ran into a nearby house after seeing the lorry speeding towards them.
