THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It was the revelation of director Balachandra Kumar, who passed away Friday morning, that trapped Dileep in the actor assault case. The case took a new dimension with the revelation of Balachandra Kumar. Dileep was only initially charged with rape in the actress attack case. After the revelation, charges such as conspiracy to murder and destruction of evidence were also imposed.

Kerala was shocked to hear Balachandra Kumar's revelation that there were conspiracies to harm the officials investigating the case. Despite his serious illness, he reached the court for the trial related to the case. Balachandra Kumar had a cordial relationship with Dileep and his family since 2014.

Balachandra Kumar had openly stated that it was Dileep who introduced him to Pulsar Suni, the first accused in the actor attack case, and that Dileep had a copy of the footage of the actress being attacked. Balachandra Kumar had revealed that Dileep had asked him not to reveal his relationship with Suni, that he had called him when he was granted bail in the case, and that there were proofs for it. He had also clarified in a TV interview that Dileep's relatives had forced him not to reveal Pulsar Suni's relationship with Dileep.

Balachandra Kumar had revealed that within forty days of his release on bail, a VIP had delivered the footage of the actress attacked to Dileep's house, and that he had witnessed it being seen by Dileep, his brother Anoop, and his sister's husband Suraj.

Another important revelation was that actor Dileep had conspired to kill the officers investigating the case.

The conspiracy was hatched in Dileep's house in Aluva in 2017. Naming the police officers, Dileep had said that they would suffer. Balachandra Kumar had revealed that Dileep’s brother-in-law Suraj had mentioned that Rs 1.5 crore would be paid to the person who hits Baiju K Paulose, one of the investigating officers, with a vehicle.

After the revelation, more cases were registered against Dileep and the noose tightened. With this, there were temptations and threats against Balachandra Kumar. But despite all that, he stood firm on what he had said until the end. While the final hearing in the actress attack case is going on in the court, he said goodbye to the world without waiting to know the verdict of the case.

Balachandra Kumar died this morning while undergoing treatment for kidney and heart ailments at a private hospital in Chengannur. He had directed 'Cow Boy' released in 2013.
