NEW DELHI: L K Advani, one of the founder leaders of the BJP and former Deputy Prime Minister, has been admitted to the hospital. He was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Delhi two days ago. Doctors said his health condition is presently satisfactory. Advani's treatment is progressing under the leadership of Dr Vineet Suri, senior surgeon of the neurology department.
Advani was admitted to Apollo earlier this year after his health condition deteriorated. 96-year-old Advani was the seventh deputy prime minister of the country. Advani was awarded the Bharat Ratna in April this year. Considering his health condition, President Draupadi Murmu presented the Bharat Ratna at Advani's house.
Advani was the Deputy Prime Minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. He had also held the charge of several ministries, including the home ministry. He was a member of Parliament from 1970 to 2019. Advani is also the longest-serving home minister and the longest-serving opposition leader in the Lok Sabha. He was the BJP's prime ministerial candidate in the 2009 general elections.
