Three held for fatally knocking down youth in Ranni

PATHANAMTHITTA: The three accused in fatally knocking down a youth following a dispute at Mandamaruthi in Ranni, has been nabbed. The three identified as Aravind, Sreekuttan and Ajoy of Chethakkal in Ranni were nabbed from Ernakulam.

A goonda team killed Ambady (24) of Chethomkara after an argument in front of the Beverages. The police received information that the accused fled to Ernakulam after abandoning their vehicle on the Vechoochira route after the incident. The accused were arrested following a search.

A group of youths got into an argument in front of the beverages outlet in Ranni last night. This later escalated into a fight. After this, Ambadi was fatally knocked down by a car.

Initially, everyone believed that it was an accidental death. However, the police later got statement from eyewitnesses about the fight in front of the beverages outlet. The police later registered a murder case.

Police said what happened was a gang war and the youths who left returned to Mandamaruthi later in two cars. Ambady got out from one of the cars and people in the other fatally knocked him down. They ran over their car on him and then fled from there.
