HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad police has sent a show cause notice to the management of Sandhya Theatre for their lapses that resulted in the death of the woman in the stampede that broke out during the premier of Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2.
The notice was sent on December 12. The police issued the show cause notice pointing 11 lapses from the side of the theatre management. The police cited many reasons including the failure of the theatre management to inform the arrival of Allu Arjun on December 4.
The notice said despite knowing that people would flock when main actors including Allu Arjun would arrive, the management failed to arrange enough security. There were no proper signboards displaying the entry and exit points for those coming to watch the movie.
The notice also alleged that the management illegally installed large flexes outside the theater, encouraging fans to gather. Adequate security was not provided at the main gates to control the crowd. This also led to untoward incidents, the notice said.
The notice asked if there is any reason not to cancel the cinematograph license despite all these lapses. The management has been given 10 days to respond. If the reply is not satisfactory, further action will be taken, including cancellation of the license.
A 35-year-old woman, also a fan of Allu Arjun, died in the stampede on December 4. Her seriously injured son had been declared brain dead a short while ago.
