Two electricity department employees electrocuted to death while performing maintenance work; shocking video comes out

CHENNAI: In a tragic incident, two contract employees of the Tamil Nadu electricity department lost their lives due to electrocution from an electric pole. The shocking incident occurred in Olaiyur, Tiruchirappalli. The deceased have been identified as Manickam and Kalaimani, residents of Manapparai. Both were electrocuted while performing maintenance work on the line. Both of them died on the spot.

The incident occurred this morning when the two workers arrived for maintenance work. It is reported that the line was switched on without realizing that they were still on the pole, leading to the tragedy. Videos of their bodies catching fire and one of them falling to the ground have been widely circulated on social media, sparking outrage.

Relatives and locals who gathered at the scene staged a protest alleging that negligence by the responsible authorities caused the accident. They insisted that those responsible should be identified and given exemplary punishment. The electricity department has announced that an investigation will be conducted into the incident.
