KUALA LUMPUR: India registered a stunning win to take home their maiden Under-19 Women's Asia Cup. India defeated Bangladesh by 41 runs in the final match at Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur.
Opener Gongadi Trisha scored a half-century for India while Ayushi Shukla made a commanding performance taking three wickets. Trisha was chosen as the performer of the match. India - 117 for 7 in 20 overs, while Bangladesh stumbled at 76 runs in 18.3 overs.
Bangladesh won the toss and let India bat first. In that, India could only score 117 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Except for Trisha, no other player could create an impact. Trisha scored 52 runs off 47 balls with five fours and two sixes. Mithila Vinod added some late momentum to the innings with 17 off 12 balls.
Fast bowler Farjana Easmin ended her bowling spell with figures 4-0-31-4 for Bangladesh. The in-form Nishita Aktar Nishi took two crucial wickets for the Tigers.
