Many dead after Azerbaijan Airlines with 67 on board crashes in Kazakhstan

MOSCOW: A passenger plane from Azerbaijan Airlines burst into flames after crashing near the Aktau city of Kazakhstan. 62 passengers were onboard the plane along with five crew members. Kazakhstan's emergency ministry said that 42 people are likely to be dead in the crash. The death toll is unclear and some people were rescued, the report said.

The accident occurred near Aktau Airport in Kazakhstan. The plane was flying from Baku to Grozny in Chechnya. The accident occurred during an emergency landing due to heavy fog. The report states that the plane, which requested permission for an emergency landing, circled several times and suddenly lost control and plunged downwards.


Video footage of the accident has been released. The footage also shows flames spreading in the grounded plane. Rescue operations are progressing. More rescue workers and ambulances have arrived at the scene.
