MUMBAI: The IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Istanbul was delayed for 16 hours due to a technical glitch leaving almost 100 passengers stranded at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai. IndiGo has apologized for the incident.

Indigo flight 6E17, which was scheduled to depart at 6.55 am on Saturday morning, had to be halted after the technical team found glitches, that warranted attention. The airlines immediately announced arranging another flight but the plane took off with passengers only at 11 pm.

“We apologize to the passengers for the delay in flight due to technical issues. We tried to solve the issue at the earliest but couldn’t meet the target. We will continue to strive to ensure the safety and convenience of our customers.” IndiGo said in a statement issued in the evening.

The decision from the airlines left many fuming as the passengers demanded that the airline either refund the money or arrange another flight as soon as possible. Not just resorting to the airport, the protest also found its way into social media, leaving IndiGo officials in the dark.

“IndiGo staff misbehaved with passengers. Passengers have not received any clear information from the crew. It's disappointing”; came one comment on social media.

Another youngster Sachin was worried that he would miss his connecting flight from Istanbul to Washington due to the delay of the IndiGo flight.
