KANNUR: The family of Kodi Suni, the accused in the TP Chandrasekharan murder case, has responded to the controversy surrounding the parole granted to him. They clarified that Suni's health condition is poor and emphasized that he deserves parole. They also said that there is no reason to make a controversy out of the matter.
"For the past six years, my son has not been granted parole. Others who received the same sentence in this case have been granted parole intermittently. Why make a controversy when parole is granted to Suni?" asked Suni's mother.
Suni was granted parole with conditions, the main one being that he should not enter Kannur or Kozhikode districts. Currently, he is in Wayanad district. Suni last received parole in 2018. Suni's mother had previously filed a petition with the Human Rights Commission, pointing out that her son was being denied parole.
After being granted a 30-day parole, Kodi Suni was released from the Thavanur Central Jail on Saturday evening. He had not been granted parole for six years due to a police report against him. Suni had been previously denied parole because of his involvement in cases such as using mobile phone in jail, coordinating activities of quotation gangs, and assaulting jail officials.
